Volunteer – Bournemouth

Jess Rooke is a film producer based in Bournemouth and Kent. She is currently a third-year student at Arts University Bournemouth, where she is producing her graduation film Crocodile Tears. Crocodile Tears raised over £10,000 in its four-week Crowdfunder campaign and was featured on BBC Radio Solent. The film is set to be submitted to festivals nationwide following its completion in May 2026. Jess is a champion of women both in front of and behind the camera, and is proud to lead her team of entirely female heads of departments on this project.
Outside of university, Jess works as a production coordinator and runner on local indie films and has volunteered for various film festivals. These have included the BFI Future Film Festival 2025, Margate Film Festival 2025, for which she was also a programmer, and the Electric Film Festival. This is Jess’s second year with Electric Film, where she assists with the festival’s logistics, scheduling and marketing. Jess is excited to continue working alongside Katya Jacobs to support up-and-coming talent in Bournemouth and beyond.
